Bulgaria and Turkey settle their diplomatic relationships in 1897. In the last few years the countries live over their best period for the past 125 years and this is the motive that will help to develop their further relationships. Bulgaria esteems highly the support of Turkey for the invitation send to us and for our membership in NATO, on the other side Turkey can rely on our support for their European integration.

The membership of Turkey in the European Union is on of the most discussed questions about the expansion at all. Over the past 40 years our southern neighbor is on the doorstep of the membership and still there is no consensus in the Union at all. The country has become associated member of the EU in 1963. In 1987 was the official applying for ? full membership and Turkey was admitted for a country-candidate in 1999. In 2005 The European parliament reached the decision to begin the negotiations with Turkey. According to the prognoses the real membership will happen before 2015. To the incorporation of Turkey in the European Union should be looked in global aspect.

In Turkey the theatrical art is one of the forms and the components of the national culture. In the period of the Republic some considerable achievements connected with the institutional theater and the development in the dramaturgy are mark out. Great contribution to the theatrical art it`s turning into modern art belongs to Muschin Ertigrul, who is qualified for a reason as "the father of the Turkish theater".
From the beginning of the 90`s the productions which are played are mostly from Bulgarian authors. In the cultural relationships between Bulgaria and Turkey the most intensive, immediate and beneficial relationships are ?established in the sphere of theater. This co-operation includes not only theater fests and tours of different groups, but also translation and the realization of different text from the dramatic neighbor authors. The plays from Bulgarian dramatic authors hold on the Turkish stages played from statehood or private amateur theater groups have turned into tradition. The first Bulgarian play translated and played on Turkish stage is the story of the Bulgarian author Jordan Jovkov called "The Millioner".

Ataturk and Bulgaria

The good neighbor Bulgarian - Turkish relationships after the Balkan war and their turning into friendship, in the period between the two world wars, is spontaneously connected with the name of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. He arrives in Sofia with the rank major as a military attachй in the Turkish embassy and when he returns into Turkey he is already a
Lieutenant - colonel. His mission was to co-operate for the inclusion of Bulgaria on the side of the Triple union and for working out the plans for military collaboration between Bulgaria and Turkey in the forthcoming First World War. For its inclusion in the Triple union Bulgaria has its own requisition to receive back the whole East Macedonia and all Bulgarian refugees to come back from Turkey. These requisitions are not acceptable for Turkey so Ataturk worked hard to make them possible and to receive the agreement of Bulgaria for its inclusion in the Triple union. He visited different cities and villages, he is interested in the social - economical, political and cultural development of the country and for its work as a military attachй he gets a lot of positive points, not only on the Turkish side, but also on the Bulgarian one. Bulgaria for Ataturk turns into the nearest Europe, where his ideas about the reformation and the modernization of Turkey mature.

Except Russia, Turkey is the only nation, containing European and Asian territories and population. Its` coast-line is 8333 km long and goes along Black sea, the Sea of Marmora, the Aegean sea and the Mediterranean sea.
With its huge territory Turkey has the ideal climate for rest on the sand beaches or in the mountain tourist places. Its multicultural region contains characteristics that are close to Near East, The Mediterranean lands, the Egypt region and the Trans Caucasean lands.
Among the populous resorts and tourist attractions, the most valuable thing almost everywhere, are the affectionate and hospitable people. It is no accident the fact that Turkey takes first place in tourist destinations among the Bulgarians in the period between 2004-2007. That makes it one of the top-ten destinations in the world.

Istanbul and Ankara are exceptionally ancient cities. The formation of both of them is covered with mythological stories. The first one is called upon the history to turn into worldwide city, and to be capital of three great empires. The other was simple small steppe town, with comparatively well developed trade thanks to its position near to the Great Silk Road.
Istanbul has a key position on the seven hills, where not only the two contents are divided, but also the two worlds. While Ankara has a concentrated position inside the continent. The first one was named differently form the nation that crossed it, while the name of the other translated from Celtic means "anchor".
No matter that Istanbul is no longer a capital it is still the most energetic center in the country. Ankara for long time had put up with the mission of being a political – administrative, diplomatic and cultural center, until Ataturk has chosen it for a new capital.
These are the first cities in Republic Turkey, not only by their size, where 20 million people live; this is ј of the inhabitants in the country. They are antipode cities that reject each other more than they fit to each other. Their geographical position, their history, their atmosphere, the lines of their destinies never crosses, but they still have touch points

Turkish cuisine
page 40

The Turkish cuisine is major part of the culture in the country, for which we can make deep analyses on the point of its historical development, rich variety, cooking techniques and the way of consummation. The dishes in the Turkish cuisine are example for healthful eating and vegetarianism. The Turkish cuisine is one of the three of greatest cuisines in the world and its wealth is due to variety of factors. The variety of nutritious products offered in Middle Asia and Anadola, the mutually influence between two radically different cultures in one long historical period, also the new tastes, whish were developed in the seraglio of the Ottoman and the Seljuk Empires, have contributed for the formation of the Turkish culinary culture
